Ads are coming to ChatGPT: Here’s what you should know

What you should know about ChatGPT Ads in 2026

Although ads haven’t launched yet, we know that ChatGPT will begin testing in the U.S. in the coming weeks. For just $8 a month, ChatGPT Go includes expanded access to messaging, image creation, file uploads, and memory.

OpenAI released the new platform in August to 171 countries, and now it’s available in the U.S. as of January 2026. We think this is a good platform for advertisers looking to run more brand awareness, e-commerce, or targeted ads.

Benefits of ChatGPT Ads

It seems the benefit of ChatGPT is that the platform has memory. That means it knows your searches, queries, and can suggest not only relevant ads but what’s best suited for you.

In terms of analytics, the only data you’ll be able to see includes high-level metrics like total impressions and clicks. You will not see what happens after a user views or clicks the ad.

“We keep your conversations with ChatGPT private from advertisers, and we never sell your data to advertisers…You can turn off personalization, and you can clear the data used for ads at any time,” stated OpenAI.

The platform will not show ads in accounts where the user tells it, or it predicts they are under 18. Ads also won’t be eligible to appear near sensitive or regulated topics, such as health, mental health, or politics.

PPC potential for ChatGPT ads

Early tests will be more about brand exposure and learning than performance efficiency. We believe this potential PPC platform is ideal for advertisers prioritizing visibility and who can afford high CPMs.

“The best ads are useful, entertaining, and help people discover new products and services. Given what AI can do, we’re excited to develop new experiences over time that people find more helpful and relevant than any other ads,” says OpenAI.
